The Puzzle of Death Rain

He heard, the announcement being made, was in his language.

“The passengers are requested to move about 200 kms away from this place within TEN minutes, as acid-rain will occur within this range after that duration. It will thaw everyone.”

The announcement made him go mad. It was impossible to move about 200 kms in ten minutes.

There was no cover over the station and the trolley. So nothing could save him from the rain. Then an idea struck him mind and he got up on the trolley. It suddenly began running speedily on the track.

He found two indicators. The first told about the speed while the other depicted time. Reading stated 100 kms per minute. He sighed deeply. With this speed, he will cross 200 kms within two minutes. He happily started humming. But his ape-form allowed him to just screech. So, he stopped humming. He observed the indicator.

After one minute, the trolley jerked. He observed that the speed reduced to 50 kms per minute.

“Never mind. If not two minutes, the trolley will surely cross 200 kms within three minutes. Seven minutes will still be remaining.” He tried to console his heart. He lifted his face and looked at the sky, where weird clouds were hovering. Those clouds were as red as blood.

After another minute, the trolley jerked again. Now, the indicator displayed speed of only 25 kms per minute. He realized that the speed decreased to half after passing every minute.

Though he had always been a loser in terms of math, he tried to calculate the actual time it will take to cover the desired distance as he was in a big trouble. The results blew his mind. In this way, he realised that he will not be able to cross 200 kms even after travelling for infinite time.

Secret of Notice

“Hey! Neha, did you read this notice?” Pinky asked Neha and they turned towards the notice board.

“What is Sunny going to tell after the prayer tomorrow?” Tanu thought deeply.

“It seems that he has outgrown even the teachers’ brain here” Neha said with a smile.

“May I tell you?” Pinky said and both of them turned to her.

“What?” Neha asked.

“I think that Sunny is going to announce his love for you in front of the school tomorrow. It’s possible that he may propose you.” Pinky mischievously said.

“From which slumberland did this thought enter your mind?” Neha stared at her.

“Ha! My brain works faster than a computer. I can see true love for you in his eyes.” Pinky said happily.

“I wish this was true” Neha sighed. “But this is nothing more than a sweet dream.”

“Why do you say that it’s a dream? I have said it. He will do tomorrow what I am telling - sure.”

Pinky raised her finger which struck something behind her. She sighed and turned to look at a boy fallen on the ground. A heavy bouquet fell from his hand beside him. He got up in pain. Even though his face was covered in mud, the girls recognized him.

It was Gagan.

“Hey! Gagan, what happened to you?” Tanu was astonished.

“Actually I couldn’t see because of this huge bouquet in my hand and fell into drain.” Gagan laughed it away.

“I know this bouquet is for me. Gagan, you care so much for me. Many many thanks to you for this gift.” Pinky happily said and Gagan nastily looked at her. She was the only girl in the school whom Gagan hated.

“I will get you a mortar and pestle, someday, to prepare spices. Be off, this bouquet is for Neha.” Gagan offered Neha the bouquet after picking it up.

“For me, but why?” Neha was expressionless.

“Actually I want to tell you a message today whatever I have been restless about, since ages.” Gagan tried to be romantic. Although his face did not allow him to be so.

“Amazing! The guy is getting restless as if it was not message but a constipation disease.” This habit of Tanu to interrupt in between made people feel irritated many times.

The Story of an Ape

Monkey-turned-Sunny knew each nook and corner of his house and he easily reached the drawing room. He has not yet met his mother. And the question of meeting his father was not a near consideration. Because this was the time when he used to be in the office.

He saw that all the books were properly arranged in the rack.

“Perhaps, mom did it in my absence” he thought. He boiled with anger when he saw the math textbook in between other books. It was because of this damn book that he was in such a pitiful state. Now neither could he get into the group of animals, nor with the human beings.

“The operation is successful. Let us destroy boy’s brain.” Ma’am Vahn said, after testing Sunny’s body.

“An idea has struck my mind.” Said Romeo, while looking at a monkey sitting on a tree branch, outside the window.

“What kind of idea?” asked Silvasa.

“Let us fit this brain in that monkey and leave him in the forest. After coming back to conscious state, if the king’s brain does not accept this body, a human being’s brain will be unnecessarily destroyed. Am I right?”

A huge disc shaped object was present on an unknown place. It was a space craft. Inside a man and a woman were fast asleep. Suddenly the lady woke. She peeped out.

“Sheele…Sheele get up. See we have reached somewhere.”

Sheele woke up to Zara’s voice.

“We are on another planet I guess” he joined Zara.

“When the King gets to know that we fled he’ll use all his power to get us. He’ll search for us in every nook and corner of this universe.” Zara was worried.

“I knew his intentions. That is why I asked you a day’s time before meeting him. I used my invention upon him. My virtual universe is all around him. There is a Sheele in that Universe whom he finished and a Zara whom he might still be trying to achieve.”

“So am I a trophy. You distributed me to the King!” Zara faked anger.

“You are a mere shadow there. He’ll not be able to even touch you.” Sheele said affectionately.

“And now He can’t find us. Because we are not in our universe now. We have travelled through wormhole in the multiverse. Now we are in some other universe, far away from our universe.”

“I never get you and your science.” Zara shrugged.

“Zara, actually our universe is lying on a fluid membrane; expanding continuously. And there are plenty of such membranes. All of them are connected to each other in some way although all of them are distinct from each other. However some factors like gravity can slip from one membrane to other. Sometimes wormholes are created or emerge. We separated from the same and it lasted for a second. Now we can never go back to our universe; neither anyone can enter in this universe from our universe now.”

Let’s check where we are.” He changed the scene of the screen. The receiver started catching signals of some news channel. The language was out of question to understand. Sheele pushed some buttons and the unknown language is translated into his language.

Anchor was speaking, “Welcome to morning news. Nearly at ten in the night, people at Ladakh saw an UFO in the sky which transmitted light. Seconds later it vanished. Whole world is amazed over this alien mystery. Although India suspects it to be an investigative strategy of the neighbors and army has been set on high alert.”

“It seems that this planet is years backward. Do we have to live amongst them?” Zara was puzzled, “Anyways, I can be with you forever anywhere away from that King and his Kingdom.”

Zara cuddled up in Sheele’s embrace.

They were ready for a new LIFE in a new ‘World’ away from their world.

A SciFi Thriller

“Why do you want me to meet the King?” Sheele inquired while testing a machine.

“Because we mistook him. When I told him that I love you and can’t marry him, he was happy. He told me that he will never force me to marry him and wished us a great life. When he came to know that you are a scientist he was eager to meet you.” Zara narrated.

“Now let’s not waste time. May be you impress him and he appoints you as the royal scientist.” Zara was excited with the thought.

Sheele turned and took her in embrace. “Not today. May be tomorrow. I need to work today.”

“Ok”, Zara replied meekly.

Zara and Sheele waited in the Royal court of visitors. It was a huge room with impeccable architecture. The wait was over quite soon. The King entered the court and they bowed.

“So young man. You are Sheele.” The King welcomed the pair with open heart.

“Yes, he is my lover.” Zara boasted.

“You are smart and I envy you for that.”

“Amazing choice Zara.”

“Come young man. Let’s raise a toast.” Sheele moved towards the King. A warm light inclined at an angle, was seeping in from the roof.

As soon as he reached under that light, he vanished into the air. Zara’s Sheele was lost in the air.

“Sheeee…” Zara could not complete. She was choked.

“Scientist! He could not even stand my death rays. They are the simplest to tackle.” The King was laughing like a maniac. He was full of sarcasm and hatred.

Zara was still in shock. “Why did you do that?”

“So that there is no barrier between us.”

“What I decide is what I do. I hate stepping back. You are my ambition and now you will be my Queen. You don’t have any option.” He asked her to come near him. 

Slowly Zara retained herself. She was back to normal. Smiling at the King she said, “No you come closer to me.”

A constant smile was playing upon Zara’s face.

“As you wish my lady luck.” The king was dying to take Zara in his arms. He tried to grab her by his arms and was shocked. Zara was apparently not visible. She disappeared as soon as he tried to touch her. He maintained his calm and tried to do that again.

“Am I dreaming? This cannot be for real.”

“This is for real you moron! You cannot touch Zara without Sheele. Because Zara is a mere reflection of herself without Sheele’s soul.”

Zara was flowing in ripples and the King was trying to catch her like a lunatic.

“This lab will witness a new universe, which I am going to create. I will be the God of that new universe.”  Sheele started telling her about the project passionately. 

“What do you say? How it is possible?” Zara was perplexed.

“It is all for real Zara. Trust me. Scientists have proved that we are a part of multiverse. That means there are millions of universes like ours. They are like bubbles of boiling water. They form, expand, stretch and explode. It all starts with a ‘quantum fluctuations’; along with it emerge some laws of physics which pave a way for future events of the ‘new born’ universe. Many universes die just after their birth just like a water bubble; and some exist forever for years like ours. They even start giving birth to galaxies and lives. The universe stays and expands till it reaches a final level. Like our universe is expanding!”

“But how does that relate to your project?”

Sheele held his head high with pride cleared his throat and announced, “I have discovered the equation to create quantum fluctuations and control them in this lab. I can create my own universe. I will make my own laws of physics for my universe.”

Sheele was red with pride.

“I don’t believe this. You are great Sheele” Zara put a peck on his forehead. She was awestruck with Sheele’s intelligence. Suddenly she saw her phone ringing. It was her father, the Prime vizier.

“I need to see you soon Zara. It is very important” Zara took the message.

“I need to go Sheele. Will hear about your project detail soon.”

“Bye Zara. Keep this plan with you as a secret.”

“Have faith in me. It will never get out of me” Zara’s voice faded in distance.

Zara saw her father walking through the room. He was impatient. Seeing Zara entering the room he slowed down. Then immediately blurted, “He wants to marry you Zara.”

“All of us will live in peace with all we want. I don’t believe this is happening”, he was speaking without stopping for breath.

“Who?”,  Zara panicked.

“The King wants to marry you. He is mad after he saw you at the royal feast.”

“But he already has 200 queens.” Zara cried sarcastically.

“And he wants one more. How does that matter?” Zara’s father was lost in Prime of the country serving his King.

“You will be the Queen. The Royal family. What else do you need in life? Don’t you feel lucky enough? You will have the world at your feet.”

“But everything of this world cannot give me what I need.” Zara was choking.

“What do you want?” his father was going mad.

“I want love from life. I feel complete and perfect with Sheele. He is the most intelligent man on this planet.” Zara protested.

“He is just a beggar. No one wants to talk to him. Friendless, homeless, pennyless creature. How can you think of marrying him?” Zara’s father was fuming.

“You will never understand this. I will talk to the King myself.” Zara rushed out of the room before she could be stopped.

320 was not a bizarre number in a planet where average age of the people was 500 years. Alter was a planet revolving around some star lying in a giant unknown galaxy.

Sheele and Zara were lost in each other thinking about life…their life….together.

“I think we should get married” Zara whispered, lost in her thoughts.

“You need to wait for a month. Just one month.” Sheele replied emphatically.

He also could not live without her.

“I don’t want to spend a day without you anymore” Zara almost was in tears like a baby.

Sheele hugged her and explained, “I am about to complete the project. This would establish me as the biggest scientist on this planet. And then I will be all yours.”

“What project? You have never told me about this one.”

“You have never asked me about this.” Sheele took her hands and motioned, “Come let’s have a trip to my work place.”

They sat in the car and with the blink of an eye they were flying at the speed of thousand km/hr.

They landed on a small island.

“Is this your workplace?” Zara was amazed, “This, a barren forgotten island.”

“Good, that it’s barren and forgotten sounds even better.” Sheele escorted.

Zara followed.

“I don’t like places full of people. You are the second person to visit this lab. One first being me.” Sheele pointed towards a building.

“You have built it all alone!” Zara’s anxiety levels were at no normal.

“No! I have worked with the help of intelligent machines.”

The building seemed to expand from inside and was nowhere near to an end. Big virtual screens illuminated the path and showed various things. Growing plants, supernova explosion and then turning to black hole, atoms, fusing electrons and a lot more. These were the only things Zara could identify.

“God save me. Is this a lab? It is all like a cinema hall!” Zara exclaimed.

“Yeah, kind of. These are not imaginary events.  All these things are happening in various parts of the universe…simultaneously. And these things have strong relationship with my project”

“Sheele you didn’t tell me about the project still.”

She was looking resplendent; reflecting the maze of stars. Her eyes outshone their twinkles. Every sight was fell on her and froze. There were at least 500 people in the party who almost did not exist in her presence. Everything was vague. She indeed was a resplendent beauty.

While all the eyes cornered her, she was eager. Her eyes searched for someone every moment.

“Would the lady like to Dance?” a young charmer flaunted on his knees.

But her lips didn't curve an inch. She signaled a ‘no’ with her head.       

“So? She turned you down even!” Another man joined the former.

“She is full of herself. Too proud of her beauty.” Former tried to save his reputation.

“Well this! She is Zara and she is the daughter of the King’s prime vizier.”

“Ohh! Then I really don’t deserve her” Man shrugged and moved towards another girl.

At that moment, suddenly her eyes brightened with happiness. A handsome young was entering.

“What took you so long Sheele? I was dying to meet you” Zara almost rushed towards him.

“I am so sorry Zara. I had to buy something for the King. A birthday party without a birthday gift would have been a worn out though.” Sheele tried to chuckle her.

“And where’s mine?” Zara tried to fake the anger.

“What?” Sheele was amused.

“My gift you jerk” Zara faked perfectly.

“Your birthday is a month away. You’ll just get what you need at the right time.” Sheele winked.

“but wha…”

“Nobles and countrymen” Zara was interrupted by a heavy voice.

“Let’s hear it for the King.”

“Long live the king. He is the Almighty” crowd cheered and hailed.

The Prime vizier then came on the stage to praise the King and the cheers fainted.

“Countrymen…it indeed is a great day. It is the day when the greatest of the warriors was born. May he live long. Cheers. Enjoy.” And with that note from the Prime vizier a loud music filled the air.

People started tapping their feet.

“How old did the King turn?” Zara asked matching up to the rhythm.

“320 years.” Sheele shouted in her ears
